Internationally wanted, convicted, barred from public procurement or disqualified as a director: all officially published, and none of it on a sanctions list. This check looks there, in the same query.
What this check covers
- Wanted persons, internationally and nationally (Interpol, Europol and the Dutch most-wanted list among others).
- Criminal involvement as recorded by an official source, convictions included.
- Debarment from public procurement, and disqualified directors.
- Regulator warning and enforcement lists, and export-control lists.
Why this is a separate check
A sanctions list records parties under a measure. A wanted-person register records something else: that someone is being looked for. Screen sanctions only and such a person comes back "no match", which is a correct answer and not the one your due diligence asked for.
It costs nothing extra. Sanctions, PEP and watchlist come out of the same OpenSanctions query and differ only in which categories count, so you pay for one.
What a hit does
A watchlist hit raises the risk classification to at least high, which means enhanced due diligence. The report carries the match with its source, dataset and a link to the register itself, so you can check it. The judgement stays yours: we classify, we do not decide.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the Wwft require this check?
- No, and we say so plainly: the Wwft names no list or register to screen against. It asks for risk-based due diligence, and enhanced measures once the risk is higher. Which registers answer that is the outcome of your own risk assessment, and your supervisor judges afterwards what you should have noticed.
- How is this different from adverse media?
- A watchlist hit comes from an official register and is a fact: that person is listed there. Adverse media is coverage, and a human has to judge it before it counts for anything. Cloudpliant does both, but only the first classifies on its own.
- Will this flood me with false hits?
- Every match arrives with a score, birthdate, country and its source, and you can dismiss one with a reason that stays in the file. A dismissed match does not come back as new on the next re-screen.
