European Union · anti-money laundering from 2027

From 10 July 2027, one anti-money-laundering rulebook for the whole EU

A regulation, directly applicable in every Member State, to accountants, tax advisers and auditors too.

Cloudpliant is software for the due-diligence duties that apply then: screening, risk classification, the client file and a frozen report per check. It is in use in the Netherlands today. Leave your address and we will write when it is ready for your country.

What happens between now and 2027

Every line is a date from the legal text, with the reference under it.

  1. 19 June 2024

The EU package is published in the Official Journal

The AMLR (Regulation (EU) 2024/1624), the sixth anti-money-laundering directive (EU) 2024/1640 and the AMLA regulation (EU) 2024/1620.

    OJ L, 19.6.2024

  2. 1 July 2025

The AMLA regulation applies in full

The new EU anti-money-laundering authority has its seat in Frankfurt am Main.

    Arts. 4 and 108, Regulation (EU) 2024/1620

  3. Today

    Your national act applies

Your duties are in your own country's AML act, which implements the fourth and fifth anti-money-laundering directives.

  4. 10 July 2027

The AMLR applies directly in every Member State

The due-diligence duties then sit in a regulation that needs no national implementation. Directive (EU) 2015/849, which the national acts implement today, is repealed the same day.

    Art. 90 AMLR · Art. 77 Directive (EU) 2024/1640

  5. 10 July 2027

One beneficial-ownership threshold across the EU

An ownership interest then means “25 % or more of the shares or voting rights”, held directly or indirectly.

    Art. 52(1) AMLR

Is your profession in the regulation?

Article 3 of the AMLR lists who is an obliged entity. Pick your profession to read the wording.

The AMLR's wording
“auditors, external accountants and tax advisors, and any other natural or legal person […] that undertakes to provide […] material aid, assistance or advice on tax matters as principal business or professional activity”

Art. 3(3)(a) AMLR

Whether your own work is covered depends on the full text of Article 3, not on this selection.

What Cloudpliant does

This is how obliged entities in the Netherlands use it today.

  • Sanctions, PEP and watchlists

Screening against OpenSanctions, worldwide. Every check records the dataset version it ran against, so what was on the list that day stays reproducible.

  • Adverse media

Research through dilisense. A person assesses every hit and records why; the reasoning goes into the file, the article text does not.

  • Risk classification from a rule matrix

The classification comes from a published rule matrix and not from a model, so a supervisor can recompute it point by point. No language model decides about your clients.

  • Client file and ongoing monitoring

Documents, beneficial owners, review dates. A nightly run reports when something changes on a list that affects one of your files.

  • The frozen report

Every check produces a report that does not change afterwards: result, reasoning, source and date of each lookup. As a PDF, as JSON and through the API.

What you end up holding

One report per check, frozen. The document you hold when your supervisor asks.

The same report on a phone.

Sample report with invented data about a Dutch company. This is what it looks like today.

Who we are looking for

Three conversations, named openly. None of them is a programme with terms we have not thought through yet.

Pilot customers

An accountancy, audit or law firm, an estate agency or any other obliged entity that wants to screen real clients and tell us what breaks. Free, and without commitment.

A data partner per country

Someone with lawful, automated access to a country's company or beneficial-ownership register. How we may connect to it gets settled before we promise anything.

The software you already work in

The first question is whether it runs inside the tools you already use. That is the conversation we are after.

We will write when there is something to use

One address, one click to confirm, and one email when Cloudpliant is ready for your country.
